Dinosaur King: The Adventure Begins

Great for Kids who love dinosaurs
After watching this cartoon on TV, my son wanted a dinosaur themed party for his 4th birthday. We ordered this DVD online from Amazon and the delivery was excellent. The product was excellent as well.
We did have a dinosaur themed birthday party and played this cartoon for kids to watch. Everyone enjoyed it! He still watches it even now.
It is about 3 kids who are part of the D-Team, discover that dinosaurs are still present in the world and they venture our to save them from the evil Alpha gang. The DVD is split up into small episodes. So it is nice for little kids who can watch short cartoons instead of a long movie.

Since he was 2.
My son has watched this program wherever he could find it since he was two years old. This is a good buy for a little boy.

Very happy
My daughter hasn't stopped watching the DVD since she got them. Came in good condition and in a timely manner.

Scooby-Doo and the Goblin King

Best animated Scooby Doo movie

We really loved this movie. We have seen a lot of the Scooby Doo movies and all of the cartoons, and we think this was the best animated Scooby Doo movie so far. We give this movie 5 stars.
This movie is a little scarier than most other Scooby Doo movies, so kids under 6 years old might be afraid.
The movie had a lot of action and a good story. While the rest of the gang was not in as much of the movie, they did appear in the movie, so it wasn't just Scooby Doo and Shaggy like some other movies. We like to see the entire gang in the movies and cartoons.

Another great Scooby movie
My three year old is obsessed with Scooby Doo. He has been since he was about a year old. We have just about every movie we could find, and the TV series on DVD. He particularly loves this movie, especially since it has a Halloween theme, which is another obsession of his.

There are so many big names attached to this one, and the story is really cute. The only thing that knocks off a star is that Fred, Velma, and Daphne are hardly in it. We like to see the whole Scooby gang together, but this one only has them in it for the first and last few minutes.

EPIC SCOOB!!!!
Out of the bunch of Scooby Doo movies that have come out on DVD in the last decade, this is easily my favorite (although, I can't lie, they all have their merits...) This has one of the most complex Scooby Doo plots of all time... and features real ghosts and spooks, as opposed to the usual "Old Mr. Jenkins in a mask" type scenarios.

Casey Casem is on board as shaggy, always a nice treat, as he does a percentage of Scooby Doo's these days, but not all. Theres other great voice work here as well, like Wayne Knight and Jay Leno in strong supporting roles.

Now lets run it down. This one is jam packed with a slew of Halloween treats. The ghost train comes in early to transport Scoob and Shaggy to the land of Halloween. The Ghost train scene is very well done... shortly after we arrive at the Ghost Saloon, and meet The Headless Horseman. Eventually the plot comes to a hilt, when the fairies, goblins, and other monsters all meet up in the real world (as is predicted...

Speed & Angels (DVD + Game) [Blu-ray]

Fantastic Doc!
I saw this film in the theater last year and found it a fascinating look inside the world of ariel dogfighting. The cinematography and the flying scenes were fantastically shot and exhillerating to watch. But what made the film resonate with me (to the point where is still sticks in my head a year later) were the incredibly personal stories of the pilots in training.

It's also very timely, with our nation at war -- and I appreciated it being slanted neither jingoistic or politically anti-war. Make no mistake, this is a film about a dying art form and the people who (quite literally) are willing to die for it.

If you have an interest in flying, the military, or even just an exceptionally well made documentary, Speed & Angels is well worth a look.

Top notch
I had the chance to see this film a few weeks ago, and it is by far the best documentary on Navy pilots ever put out there. Peyton Wilson is a very talented director who not only shoots fantastic arial scenes, but also achieves a closeness with her characters that is nothing short of amazing. A must see.

An amazing human interest story
Speed and Angels is an amazing human interest story about the dedication and perseverance required to achieve your dreams. While the aerial and cockpit scenes are breathtaking, the real power behind this film is in the stories of Jay and Meagan and their unwillingness to settle for anything less than fulfilling their lifelong ambitions. You truly get to know these young pilots and will find yourself rooting for them to succeed. A really great documentary delivered with a personal, unbiased and honest touch.

Father Knows Best, Vol. 1

Old School TV Show
Watched this show as a child enjoyed it then enjoyed it more now. If you are looking for down home good tv show classic this is the show.

Family is the fiber of the world, we need more
Do you wake up in the morning and realize that something is missing in your life. You can't quite put you finger on it but you think why do I feel this way. Then you order this old family series form Amazon. It is received on time and in good shape. You slide it into your DVD. It begins to play and as you watch you realize, that's what is gone, a real family atmosphere, a home with real feeling and real love also real people. In this world of money and greed you can take Father knows best and take your self to a place we all long for. Where the problems are still there but there is a way to solve them and be happy.
I would highly recommend this series to our young families of the world. The older ones know what I am talking about. Thank you.

Back in time
It was great to see episodes that I grew up watching.. bought back memories of how easy life was in those days. What happened?

Lovejoy: Christmas Specials

To Buy or Not to Buy. That Is The Question.
I have enjoyed the Lovejoy series since it originally aired in the early 90's. I and the family were stationed in East Anglia in England where most of the Lovejoy episodes were filmed; it was fun to watch the show on BBC then to spend the weekends visiting the historic villages and other places we had seen on Lovejoy. So as a Lovejoy fan and being homesick for the beauties and wonders of East Anglia the Lovejoy DVD's are a treat loved by the entire family.
Now for the Cons: (Not criticizing the series just the quality and manner it is being released.)
The DVD is not worth the $17.00 + S&H. Come on... It should not have been released as a standalone DVD? The two special episodes should have been left as part of the normal DVD series box sets. It makes no sense to break the timeline of the series in this way.
Now I find that the Complete Season 4 DVD is set to release 4 months from now. Why so long? The Lovejoy series ended over 10 years ago. The entire series has been...

2 Special Episodes
Since most British TV series only produce 6-12 episodes a year, popular TV shows produce special Christmas episodes. Lovejoy had two special double length episodes.

The Prague Sun (1992) - Lovejoy is alone for Christmas. But when a friend is attacked, Lovejoy and Eric are off to Prague on a treasure hunt. And Lady Jane shows up to help out. Guest Donald Pleasance and Peter Vaughn.

The Lost Colony (1993) - Lovejoy has relatives from America visit. But when some Sir Walter Raliegh antiques disappear, Lovejoy has to go to Carolina. But when he gets into trouble, his new love interest Caroline comes to his rescue. Guests Barbara Barrie, Ken Kercheval and John Gielguld.

Lovejoy was an iconoclastic series in England and had a strong following in America. The show was uniformly excellent. The Prague Sun is definitely the better of the two episodes.

The one thing to be careful is that these episodes do not appear on another series DVD set...

Preaching to the choir!
I would assume that most buying this DVD are fans of Lovejoy, and that they were on pins and needles waiting for the Christmas Special release along with upcoming season 4. This was an extrodinary show, that needs no vamping by me. If you are a true fan of the Lovejoy series, just be happy that they continue to release the episodes and seasons that made us happy. Enjoy

The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour: The Best of Season 3

Season 3 is the first of The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour dvd sets!
As everyone is asking, "Where are The Best of The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour Seasons 1 and 2?" I spoke directly to a Smothers Brothers rep and here's what I found out. There have been delays in producing the best of The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour dvd sets due to reasons unknown. I would guess that the reasons have something to do with getting all the approvals needed by the numerous guests on the shows, that is the cause of delay. Even this Season 3 is a few weeks behind schedule.

When I asked about certain musical groups appearing on this Season 3, I was happily told that The Who will not be on Season 3, but will be appearing on Season 2, which is right now in the making! I was so happy to hear that they are currently working on Season 2! This Season 2 will contain the famous performance by The Who, when Keith Moon used too many explosives and blew out poor Pete Townsend's eardrum!

Even though all 3 Seasons are being released backwards, starting with...

better than nothing.....but not very good
Have waited so long for this to be released and what a disappointment!
How ironic that the Smothers Brothers who faught with censors are now censoring what they release to us! I'm glad they came out with this set. But most of the episodes were about 40 minutes. These are NOT the full episodes as aired. The booklet insert talks about the first David Steinberg sermonette - the controversial one. Then it's mentioned on one of the shows when Tommy apologizes for it....but it's not included here!! We are given the second, calmer sermonette entitled "Jonah"(which of course is good). On one of these episodes, the band comes out in the beginning of the show with the signs naming that night's guests. They list Leigh French and she only appears for about 2 minutes in a very quick comedy sketch. She's not listed in the menu of the disc as a guest for that show at all. Surely she was in more of that episode than that! They did leave her in one as the weather girl, so it can't be a...

I am loving this set... but, uncut??
I wasn't even born when this show was originally on CBS. But I have been a fan of the Smothers Brothers for a long time, starting back in 1988 when they had a short-lived revival of their variety show. Having just purchased this 4-disc set (the Amazon.com information incorrectly lists it as having 3 discs), I have to say that I am really enjoying the show.

However, I have to wonder about the claims of all 11 episodes being uncut. I have only watched the first disc so far and am already noticing what I think are some cuts from the original broadcast versions. It would appear that these episodes are taken from a "Best Of" series that Entertainment Television did back in 1992. Each episode (so far) has an introduction and epilogue by Tom and Dick Smothers. In one of the episodes there are scenes shown during the epilogue from the 'Daily News' segment that were not in the episode I just watched.

You're Not Elected, Charlie Brown

Forgotten episode, but still a fun semi-classic.
While not ranking up there with the 'classic' Charlie Brown titles, this 1972 special is still very enjoyable.
One name, "Joe Cool", will probably jog some memories. Those who grew up in 1972 will remember the Snoopy as Joe Cool collectables. Well he makes his TV premier here.

This is Charles Schulz's satire on politics with Lucy running the campaign, menacing voters to vote for her brother Linus, getting Linus to make empty campaign promises. Remember, this was the year of Richard Nixon.

This originally aired as "You're Elected, Charlie Brown", and right after its broadcast the producers realized the folly of the title and quickly inserted "Not" for all re-broadcasts. The theme song lyrics do not have the "Not" in them. Unfortunately this edit must have been done to the master negative as this 'remastered' version has the revised title. But you can get a glimpse of the original title in the bonus material.

Meet Joe Cool as Linus Runs for President
With all the vitriol, empty rhetoric, name-calling, and mudslinging of another political season just behind us and another round soon to start, it's nice just to sit back and look at politics from the perspective of Charlie Brown and the Peanuts gang. YOU'RE NOT ELECTED, CHARLIE BROWN was a Peanuts special that first aired on television in 1972. The special follows Linus van Pelt as he runs for president of the student council. He's assisted in his campaign largely by Lucy and Charlie Brown (Charlie might not have a chance of winning an election, but he makes an amazing Assistant Campaign Manager). The special includes segments with Lucy polling the student body to see if Linus has a chance of winning, Snoopy and Woodstock painting signs, Linus on a radio talk show hosted by Lucy, and Linus delivering a speech to the student body. This special isn't as well known as the holiday Peanuts shows, but it's still a gem and includes the first televised appearance of Snoopy as Joe...

My kids love charlie brown. Just another classic Charlie Brown cartoon that my kids can not get enough of. Would recommended to all who like Charlie brown.

The Starlost - The Complete Series

Yes, I Own The DVD Set And Watched It!!!!
Unlike most all the previous reviews, I have received my copy of The Starlost and am very impressed with the quality of the dvd. It's a 4 dvd set and contains all the 16 episodes that were filmed and finished. They have been remastered and have a good quality to them. If you've been used to watching these episodes on a grainy youtube video you will be pleasantly surprised on the quality. No, it's not like today's sci fi quality but for the early 70's it's fantastic. There are scenes I have watched on youtube but on dvd it's much clearer and you see everything. It's funny, this is the first time I have seen a clear picture of the show in color. In 1973 I was a kid and we didn't own a color tv then. If you are a fan it's a must have. Bless you VCI. A personal cult object
I watched this show when it was originally produced, and was absolutely enthralled by it - for me it sat alongside Star Trek, Space 1999, UFO, &c. As the years went on I forgot about it, until about 15 years ago when I recalled the show (which nobody else seemed to remember), started a search and found the series, quite truncated, on VHS. While it's true that the acting is stiff and the series is not-so-special-effected (though not always, and generally fueled with good ideas) for me it held up and still contained a lot of the wonder from my original watching. With Walter Koenig, John Colicos, and Barry Morse appearing in various episodes it certainly holds its place as classic 70s sci-fi. I just pre-ordered, and I'm thrilled at the prospect of finally seeing the complete series!

At Last!! Another cult classic filnally comes to DVD!!!
At long last this forgotten cult scifi classic comes to dvd! Many who remember this show have panned it for being stiff, with wooden acting and cheap sfx. Most of the sfx was done with the croma key effect. You have to remember that this show was made in the early 70s, on a very tight budget. The show was also abandoned by it's creator. While the show has it's flaws, as most shows do, it also has a charm the can only be found in an early low budget tv production. Fans of Doctor Who will appreciate the low budget effects and storylines.
All in all, this dvd release has been a long time coming and I cannot wait for my set.
Have an open mind, and give the show a chance before bowing to the critics who will pan the show, you may be pleasantly surprised!
My rating is on the content which hopefully will be matched by a superb quality dvd release!

Sports Night: The Complete Series 10th Anniversary Edition

Maybe the funniest show you never watched
[I rate it 4.5 stars.]

"Sports Night" is about an eponymous fictitious hour sports news show on the fictitious Continental Sports Channel. It's a sit-com targeted at an audience who knows what "eponymous" means without consulting a dictionary. But this comedy isn't really about sports at all. It's about intelligent, articulate people who use humor to relieve the pressures that their demanding jobs entail.

Aaron Sorkin is the creator of "Sports Night". He also created "The West Wing" a year later, and when he realized that it was a lot easier selling viewers a fictitious White House administration than a fictitious sports news crew, he dropped "Sports Night" like a hot potato. Most everyone knows that "The West Wing" isn't really about Washington politics; instead it's about intelligent, articulate people who use humor to relieve the pressures that their demanding jobs entail. But few people have even heard of...

A great nominee for the best TV show you never saw
The proof of the pudding for the value of "Sports Night" is probably the fact that my wife, who usually refrains from attending sporting events with me and invariably walks out of the room if I turn on Sports Center, loved "Sports Night." This Aaron Sorkin creation aired for roughly two seasons worth of episodes between 1998-2000, and it provides the same sort of witty repartee and verbal sparring that we get on "The West Wing," albeit without the political overtones that make it a hit or miss with the ideological sensibilities of the viewer. On this show the outrage comes out of the casual dismissal of Babe Ruth as the athlete of the century, if you are really concerned about such things, but mostly this show is about the glories of frustration.

On one level the frustration comes from the wonderful and wacky world of being the 3rd rated 11 p.m.cable sports news show, where live prize fights do not go as long as planned and a newly signed baseball free agent disses the...

One of the best series ever!
Writer/creator Aaron Sorkin and director Thomas Schlamme went on to develop NBC's "The West Wing" during the second season of this wonderful series.

From the beginning, ABC had no clue of how to handle this show. First, they insisted that the producers ad a laugh track, because you don't know when to laugh. Then, they started to promote it like a soap opera, because it had serious issues to deal with at times.

Ultimately, the quality of the show came through. A fabulous cast provided excellent performances. Josh Charles ("A Few Good Men") and Sabrina Lloyd ("Sliders") are the MVPs here, consistently giving the show it's heart. Peter Krause ("Six Feet Under"), initially stiff in his "on air" role as Casey McCall, settled in well mid-first season.

The real gem here is Robert Guilamme ("Benson"), his Issac Jaffe is an excellent character brought to life with his gentle touch. Guilamme's real-life stroke was written into the series, and when he returned in the second season made for...

When We Left Earth: The NASA Missions (Limited Edition)

Out of this world!!
Please forgive the tacky title - but I couldn't resist it. The 4 disc set is pretty bloomin' brilliant - cleaned up pictures and sound mean that this (along with "in the shadow of the moon")has the best images you are going to see this side of Spacecraft films exhaustive (and relatively expensive)collections.
It doesn't just focus on one aspect but covers all of NASA's manned programs.
Extra interviews with various astronauts (including Neil Armstrong and John Young) and a fair range of extras mean that this is a top notch set and is ideal for a newbie or someone with an active interest in the space program.

So near but so far ...
Here's why I like this set:

The image quality is (mostly - see below) very good. Even with the 16mm film source the extra resolution of Blu-Ray is apparent and some of the film is staggeringly effective. As has been stated in another review, the modern interviews are pristine.
The variety and scope of the clips is excellent. The makers have sourced every possible movie from private hands (cine films) and NASA and there's a great deal I've not seen despite 40 years of interest in the subject.
The narration is well written and appropriate. This feels like a story with narrative rather than a straightforward documentary.

Here's why I dislike this set and think it's a wasted opportunity:

Despite the quality of the film clips there are some that have clear and very obvious visible and not just minor anomalies but persistent great big black blobs in the same place on the screen. This 'dirt' persists across clips taken at varied times, even months...

Excellent documentary on the Space Program.
The older footage has been remastered and looks good.
The HD sequences of the launches look amazing.
The musical score is great.

The Space Race with the Mercury program. Project Gemini.
The Apollo missions with the massive Saturn V rockets.
The Challenger mission segment has candid admissions (Story Musgrave).
Footage of the first untethered EVA by Bruce McCandless is great.
The Hubble Telescope repair mission puts you in the EVAs.
Construction of the International Space Station.
Disc 4 is a Bonus Disc of original NASA films.

My only complaint with this package is the Blu-ray case. They could have used a better center hub for holding the discs. The one they used makes it difficult to remove the discs for viewing.

A Charlie Brown Christmas (Remastered Deluxe Edition)

Wonderful program, disappointing audio
This is one of the most wonderful programs ever put on TV. However, the DVD has some very disappointing sound problems that make me hope that this treasure has not been lost forever, and that maybe there is a better version in our future.

The program, particularly the audio, seems like it has been poorly "restored." However that restoration is more like amateurish remodeling. Old programs are always a little scratchy sounding. That's OK. However, when an bad effort is made to hide that fact, it can spoil the program. Here is what you get in many instances in this DVD, to distacting annoyance:

The children are speaking, with soft jazz music in the background. Where there is a moment without a syllable, the sound level drops, like the volume was turned down for just that moment. Not only does this suck the atmosphere out of the program, and generate noticable odd silent spots in a program with acceptable old fashioned tape hiss at all other moments, but it...

A Gunuine Christmas Classic For All Ages
Perhaps the most endearing of all the Charlie Brown specials is "A Charlie Brown Christmas", the first in a long series of made for t.v. half hour films portraying the famous Peanuts Gang.

For almost forty years, watching "A Charlie Brown Christmas" has been an eagerly anticipated event for millions of households. I recall watching it as far back as twenty-two years ago, and have watched it every Christmas since.

"A Charlie Brown Christmas" was made in a time when commercialism was running rampant all over the country. Stores advertising to shoppers what they ought to buy, long before Thanksgiving had come and gone. Unfortunately, we still see this blatant commercialism today, which makes this short film so very poignant and all the more special.

Charlie Brown is assigned to direct the school Christmas pageant, much to his glee; for he feels accepted and worthy. When Lucy tells him to go out and get an alumminum tree, he takes Linus along with...

My favorite Christmas special
I realize that I am writing this several weeks after Christmas, and this is a Christmas DVD, but this is the first year that I missed watching "A Charlie Brown Christmas" on television, so I rented the DVD. Ever since I was a little boy, this has been my favorite Christmas special, and one that I always looked forward to watching every year. I grew up reading the Peanuts comic strips and I grew up watching the Peanuts Christmas special.

Charlie Brown is depressed. He can't seem to get himself into the Christmas spirit. He doesn't like the commercialism of Christmas and scarcely knows the true meaning of Christmas. Lucy selects Charlie Brown to be the director of their Christmas play and he decides to get a Christmas tree for the production. Guitar Artistry of Roy Book Binder Pickin' with the Book

Warning, this is NOT a instructional video
Roy is great but I was expecting an instructional video. This is not it. He plays the songs but does not walk you through them slowly as I expected. To make matters worse the camera keeps zooming in and out and fading from one angle to another so you can't follow every move his hands are making. I also found some of the tab hard to follow. It does not seem to match what Roy is playing very well.
I'm an intermediate player. I learned quite a bit from watching Roy's' hands but not enough to play an entire song, just some cool cord moves and licks here and there. Also not all the songs on the video are included in the tab book. That seems slack to me. I did enjoy hearing Roy play, sing and tell stories.

The Back Story
I already have several of Roy Bookbinder's videos. In this video (in the studio, no audience) he tells the stories behind some of his better known perfmance works and gives demonstrations of several of the songs. As always, his humor and excellent guitar skills carry the program. The DVD also has the tabulature files for several of the songs included.

NFL Greatest Games Series: Pittsburgh Steelers Super Bowls

NFL films finally puts these out!
OK, I've had these games on VHS tapes for years. I bought this set seeking better quality which I did not get. I thought SB's 9 and 10 were fair at best. I thought my VHS copy of SB 10 was better quality than the one in this set. SB's 13 and 14 were good, but not great. Actually SB 9 and 14 were basically the same copy quality I already had. SB 40 was excellent quality which it should be being the newest.

If you don't already own pirated VHS copies already, you should buy these.
If you are like me already owning copies of these and looking for better quality, you're not gonna get it.

Also, why do teams like the Giants and Cowboys have more games than the Steelers, Raiders and 49ers? Ok this was released before SB 43, I understand. But, the Steelers have had many other great games besides the Super Bowls. What about the 1995 AFC Championship game? The immaculate reception game (which i'm not sure exists). The 1975 AFC Championship game vs oakland? The 1978...

Disappointing release from Warner
This was a highly anticipated release seeing how Warner was releasing 5 Steeler Super Bowls complete and uncut. First of all, the games are not complete. To speed up the game they cut a lot of the in between play commentary and sideline camera work. Maybe a small detail to some, but I see it as false advertisement. Second of all, the quality on these is downright shameful. I have recorded better quality from VHS of televised programs from the late 70's than these. It looks as if they transferred the games from a really bad VHS recording. Don't be fooled by the pristine crystal clear pictures of the various games on the DVD cover and back because what you get inside on the discs is horrible. Even the 5th superbowl quality is not what you would expect from something that was just recording in 2005. I was born and raised in Pittsburgh. I watched these games when they originally aired and the quality of the games back then wasn't that bad. Don't get me wrong, I understand about...

Where did they get the source for these games
Like a previous review indicated - the quality of these games are below standard - there has to be better quality footage in the network vaults - these look like they were copied from a bootlegged VHS tape instead of the network source tape -- having said that -- it's still a great piece of history

Out of Left Field

Enjoyable look into the birth of modern Chinese baseball
This documentary covers the four years of preparation of the Chinese national baseball team ahead of the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing. Although baseball had been well-known in China, it died out during the Mao era.

According to the manager of the Chinese team, former US big-leaguer Jim Lefebvre, this wasn't due to any ideological problem with baseball -- just a lack of funding and budgets to keep baseball going in the 1960s and 70s. So China had an earlier baseball culture that had practically died out, and the Chinese turned to MLB in the US for help. MLB sent Lefebve and pitching coach Bruce Hurst, who was later replaced by Steve Ontiveros.

The movie compresses four years into a single hour-long documentary, so there isn't a great level of detail, but it does show clips from a few important games. Against Cuba in Italy three years before the Olympics, where China was absolutely demolished. But there was a bright spot during the same games in Italy, when...

Mystery Science Theater 3000: 20th Anniversary Edition [Limited Edition]

Four great episodes from MST3K!
This set is apparently the DVD-only version of the 20th Anniversary set from Shout Factory. That means that it does not include the tin case, plastic Crow figurine or episode lobby cards. It does contain four great episodes of everyone's favorite cow-town puppet show.

This set features one episode with Joel Hodgson as host and three with Mike Nelson hosting. Two episodes are from the Comedy Central years while two are from the Sci-Fi Channel shows.

211- First Spaceship on Venus A controversial add among fans, but this episode unnecessarily gets a bad rap. The basic movie is about a multinational space expedition to Venus (a theme in a least of couple of later MST3K experiments). Goofy of course, and funny, but the host segments are fun (others disagree, but who cares?) The Brain's own "Amazing Colossal Episode Guide" The Mystery Science Theater 3000 : Amazing Colossal Episode Guide indicate that this wasn't one of their favorites, but they have said that about lots of MST3K episodes that others enjoy. Your mileage, of course, may vary but any early MST3K is worth a look.

A "Cash" Charity Relief Concert makes its home video debut
Here's a Johnny Cash Concert NOT released by his record label or taken from a TV Broadcast. In 1991, Reverend Jack Shaw in Johnstown, Pennsylvania was trying to raise money for a hospital that he wanted to build in Kenya. He called on Cash, who was a deeply religious man and supported many worthy causes, to give a concert in a small church with the plan to release the taped concert on video. Cash brought along the whole family including his wife June and June's Mom, Mother Maybelle Carter, as well as Cash's son, John Carter Cash, who joins in on one number. - and is the "Producer" of this DVD.

The show was recorded - and is the property of Shaw Ministries - but, to my knowledge, never released before. Now it's commercially available through Eagle Vision and Eagle Rock Entertainment.

Cash gave many of this type of concert in small churches over the years but this is the first time one has been available to the public. From the opening introduction from Cash, you...

Good Old John
It's a great DVD taped in a church in Pennsylvania in 1991. Cash is in great form. His voice is strong. I am really pleased to have bought this item, and I can only recommend it to any Cash-fan like me.

Cash for Kenya: Live in Johnstown, PA
I just bought this dvd..it is a great concert...Johnny cash and the Carter family are great and i was really glad to see Anita Carter singing as well...she has a beautiful voice...the only thing that i didnt like and most hard core Cash fans probably wont like this either was the absents of Bob Wootten on guitar...the guitar player on this concert seemed to be in his own world...playing with his back to the people and not trying to sound anything like Luther Perkins or Bob Wootten...the songs Johnny Cash picked for this show are great...the dvd is really worth buying and i have already watched it several times but you just have to look past the guitar player...once you have watched this dvd you will see what i am talking about...thanks for reading my opinion...jeff johnson
